DHAKA, Sept 3, 2025 (BSS) - Police on Tuesday arrested a person for his alleged involvement in beating up an on-duty traffic constable in the capital's Khilgaon area.
According to a police statement, a constable of the Traffic Department was on duty on the south side of the Khilgaon Railgate Crossing in the capital around 2:45pm on Tuesday.
At that time, a private car got stuck at the signal while he was giving the signal to stop going north. Later, the private car rider allegedly abused the policeman on duty and threatened to take him to court.
Around 3:00 pm, a group of 10 to 12 people on 6 to 7 motorcycles, including the detained person, came to Khilgaon Rail Crossing signal and started beating up the policeman on duty indiscriminately.
After being informed, policemen from Khilgaon Police Station arrived at the spot and arrested the person named Md. Anwar Hossain from the spot.
The remaining others quickly fled the scene, the release said.
A case was registered with Khilgaon Police Station against the arrested person, and 10 to 12 unidentified people on charges of obstructing the police in the performance of their duties, causing injuries, and threatening to kill.
