RANGPUR, Sept 3, 2025 (BSS) - Speakers at a women's rally held in Panchagarh called for building a youth-based, exploitation-free and discrimination-free new Bangladesh to improve the quality of life of women and their empowerment.
Panchagarh District Information Office organised the rally at Dokropara Government Primary School ground in Sadar Upazila of Panchagarh district on Wednesday, a press release of PID's Rangpur Regional Office said.
Panchagarh District Primary Education Officer Samesh Chandra Majumdar was present as the chief guest in the rally presided over by District Information Officer Ujjwal Sheel.
The chief guest said that discrimination and corruption are the two main obstacles to development.
One of the components of building a discrimination-free and corruption-free Bangladesh is equality between men and women and improving the quality of life of women.
He said, "Men and women are two wheels of society, without one of which it is not possible to move forward. So, there is no alternative to proper education and employment to make women self-reliant for the purpose of overall development."
He said the role of mothers in raising children is very important as the family is the first school for children while the mother is their first teacher.
"There is no alternative to family education in shaping a beautiful future for children. The role of the family is essential in providing moral education to children," he added.
He further said that child marriage is a curse and a major obstacle to the progress of society. To free the society from this curse, everyone must be vocal in preventing child marriage, he remarked.
The District Information Officer said that violence against women is never desirable. It is necessary to ensure equal rights for men and women in all fields.
Panchagarh Sadar Upazila Social Services Officer Laila Arjuman, Upazila Primary Education Officer Md Mominul Haque, Assistant Upazila Education Officer Md Ratibul Islam and Dokropara Government Primary School Headmaster Prabir Kumar Sen delivered their speeches as special guests at the event.
