RANGPUR, Sept 4, 2025 (BSS) - Police have arrested Shuktara Begum, the president of Ward 25 unit of the Rangpur Metropolitan Mohila Sramik League, in a case of attempted murder during the anti-discrimination student movement.

 "We arrested Shuktara Begum from her house in the city's Shalbon Botla Club Mour area in the early hours on Wednesday," said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rangpur Kotwali Metropolitan Police Station Md Ataur Rahman.

 Shuktara Begum, wife of Abdul Khaleque, is the accused number 147 in the attempted murder case filed by Ramzan Ali, who was shot during the anti-discrimination student movement in the city last year. 

 "We produced Shuktara Begum before the Rangpur Metropolitan Magistrate Court-1 when its Judge Md Soyebur Rahman ordered her to be sent to jail on Wednesday afternoon," the OC added.
