THAKURGAON, Sept 4, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court carried out an anti-noise campaign in Thakurgaon today, fining violators and seizing hydraulic horns used in vehicles.

The initiative was taken by the Thakurgaon Environment Department in collaboration with the district administration, held in the Jagannathpur area of Sadar Upazila.

Executive Magistrate Hasna Hena Laboni led the mobile court, which imposed fines on one bus and two truck drivers in three cases for using hydraulic horns that exceeded permissible noise levels, violating Section 8(1) of the Noise Pollution (Control) Rules 2006.

During the operation, six hydraulic horns producing excessive noise were confiscated.

Tamim Hasan, Assistant Director of the Thakurgaon Department of Environment, served as the prosecutor in the court. Ansar members of the district assisted in maintaining law and order during the campaign.

Besides, awareness leaflets highlighting the harmful effects of noise pollution on human health were distributed and informational stickers were placed on buses and trucks.

"These campaigns will continue," said a press release from the Thakurgaon District Office of the Department of Environment.
