Farmer electrocuted in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Sept 17, 2025 (BSS) - A farmer was electrocuted and died in Khagrabandh Kaliganj Mandalpara village under Bishnupur union of Badarganj upazila in the district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Charaf Uddin Mandal, 48, son of late Abdul Sattar Mandal of the same village.

According to Badarganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) AKM Atiqur Rahman, a branch of a bean plant at Charaf Uddin's house had become entangled with an electric wire. While attempting to remove the branch during inclement weather around 8 am, he came into contact with the live wire and was electrocuted.

The victim remained stuck to the wire, and after about half an hour, his family members managed to rescue him. However, he had already died on the spot.

"On receiving the news, police visited the spot," said the OC.
