NOAKHALI, Sept 17, 2025 (BSS) - A bus driver was killed and 20 others were injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on the Noakhali-Dhaka road in Sonaimuri upazila of the district today.

The deceased bus driver was Belayet Hossain, 46, son of Golam Sharowar of Kalikapur village in Chatkhil upazila of the district.

“The accident took place when a bus of ‘Ekushey Paribahan’ hit a sand-laden standing truck from behind as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving 21 passengers including its driver injured,” said Chandraganj Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mobarak Hossain Bhuiyan.

The injured were taken to Sonaimuri Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared the bus driver Belayet dead.
