42 lakh children to receive typhoid vaccines in Khulna division

KHULNA, Sept 23, 2025 (BSS) – A total of 4,259,378 children in the Khulna division will receive the Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine (TCV) during the vaccination campaign.

As part of the government’s Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI), a nationwide typhoid vaccination campaign will begin on October 12, 2025, aiming to protect children from typhoid fever.

To succeed the campaign, a divisional advocacy meeting was held at CSS Ava Center in Khulna today.

The health officials announced in the meeting that 4,259,378 children in the Khulna division will receive the Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine (TCV). The campaign will cover both schools and community centers.

The campaign will be conducted in two phases: from October 12–20 and from November 1–13. 

Children aged 9 months to under 15 years will be vaccinated, including pre-primary to class IX students. 

Registration requires a 17-digit birth certificate number through the website www.vaxepi.gov.bd.

Speaking as the chief guest, Debprasad Pal, Additional Divisional Commissioner (Education & ICT) of Khulna, urged all stakeholders to ensure the success of the campaign by raising awareness among families and encouraging children to attend vaccination centers on scheduled dates.

Dr. Md. Mujibur Rahman, Acting Divisional Director of Health presided over the meeting. 

Dr. Mohammad Shahariar Sajjad, Deputy Director of EPI & Surveillance, Md. Akib Uddin, Deputy Director of Family Planning, and Md. Kawsar Hossain, UNICEF Khulna Chief, addressed the event.

Dr. Md. Ariful Islam of the World Health Organization (WHO) presented campaign details through a multimedia presentation.

Civil surgeons from 10 districts, government officials, school teachers, and imams attended the session.
