Truck-CNG collision leaves 3 dead in Bogura

BOGURA, Sept 26, 2025 (BSS) – Three people, including a man and his son, were killed and two other members of the same family injured when a sand-laden truck collided head-on with a CNG-run autorickshaw in Sariakandi upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased were identified as Bipul Chandra Das, 38, of Kuthibari village under Shaghata Upazila; his son Biplob Chandra Das, 5; and autorickshaw driver Shukur Ali, 40, of Sultanpur village under Shibganj Upazila of the district.

The injured are Bipul’s wife, Mamata Rani Das, 32, and their daughter Rupa Moni Das, 12.

Zamirul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sariakandi Police Station, said the accident occurred around 7 am in the Fulbari Kathaltola area of the upazila. When Bipul and his family were going to his in-laws’ house in Narchi village by autorickshaw to celebrate the holy Durga Puja, a speeding sand-laden truck coming from the opposite direction hit the vehicle, leaving it mangled.

The autorickshaw driver died on the spot. Later, fire service personnel rescued the injured and took them to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, where Bipul and his son Biplob succumbed to their injuries, the OC added.

He said the truck was seized but its driver and helper managed to flee the scene.
