BAGURA, Sept 26, 2025 (BSS)- Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of the Hindu community will be held in 686 mondops here this year amid tight security.
District police has arranged special security measures for 104 vulnerable puja mondops, said Bogura District Police Media Spokesperson Additional SP Atwar Rahman.
He said a large number of police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Ansar will be on duty while the army will remain in patrol. CCTV cameras will be installed in every mondop.
In addition every Puja committee will have its own volunteer team round-the-clock to monitor the security measures in every mondop.
Last year, Durga Puja was held in 677 mondops in 12 upazilas of the district while this year the number of mandaps increased to 686, organizers said.
Puja mondops were classified in three categories- very important, important and general. Special security measures were taken for the mondops under ‘very important’ category, police said.
The law enforcement agencies were instructed to ensure all out security in all puja mandaps and idol immersion places.
Bogura Municipal Puja Celebration Council President Parimal Prasad Raj said Durga Puja will be held in 72 mandaps in the municipal area.
All preparations are near to completion while decorations of the mondops are now underway, he said. This year’s Durga Puja will be celebrated peacefully with the cooperation of all, he hoped.
