JHENAIDAH, Oct 2, 2025 (BSS) - Two people, including a child were killed and another injured in a road accident at Atharomail Bazar area under Sadar upazila this afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Nazrul Islam, 65, son of late Nizam Uddin of Nagar Bathan village, and his grandson Sifat Hossain, 8, a resident of Jibannagar upazila.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mrittunjoy Biswas of Jhenaidah Arapur Highway Police Station confirmed the accident.

The accident occurred around 2 pm at Atharomail point on the Chuadanga-Jhenaidah highway when a passenger bus of Mondol Paribahan collided head-on with a battery-run auto-rickshaw. 

Sifat died on the spot while Nazrul and another injured passenger were taken to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared Nazrul dead.

As the families did not file any complaint, police handed over the bodies to their relatives, said OC Abdullah Al Mamun of Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station.
