JHENAIDAH, Oct 2, 2025 (BSS) - A free medical camp was organized today in Maheshpur upazila of the district to provide healthcare services to residents of the remote border areas.

Volunteer group Shimanto Manob Kallyan Sangstha (Border Human Welfare Organization) arranged the camp at around 1:30 pm in Pepulbaria village under Swarupur union, offering primary healthcare to over 200 underprivileged men and women.

Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Helena Akter Nipa attended the programme as the chief guest, while president of the organization Md Sabbir Ahmed presided.

Local residents expressed satisfaction at receiving free services including blood group tests, diabetes screening and blood pressure checks and urged for continuation of such initiatives in the border region.

Register Officer of the District Social Services Office Md Hasanuzzaman lauded the effort, saying, "The initiative of Shimanto Manob Kallyan Sangstha is very timely. Such efforts are essential for the welfare of humanity."

Speaking on the occasion, Md Sabbir Ahmed said, "We want to stand beside the marginalized people of society.
