UP chairman killed in Naogaon road accident

NAOGAON, Oct 2, 2025 (BSS) - A Union Parishad (UP) chairman was killed after being run over by a power tiller-operated trolley in Patnitala upazila of the district this afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Habibur Rahman, chairman of Nazipur Union Parishad and former joint convener of Patnitala upazila BNP.

The accident took place around 2 pm on the Nazipur-Gagonpur road in the Ramjibanpur area.

Locals said Habibur was traveling by motorcycle from Notun Bazar area of Nazipur municipality to Raghunathpur village to go fishing when a power tiller-operated trolley coming from the opposite direction hit his bike and ran him over, leaving him dead on the spot.

Patnitala Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Abu Taleb said the body will be handed over to the family after completion of legal formalities.
