52nd Summer Sports Competition inaugurated in Magura

MAGURA, Oct 11, 2025 (BSS) - The 52nd National School, Madrasah, and Technical Education Summer Sports Competition 2025 was inaugurated today at the Magura District Stadium, marking the beginning of a two-day district-level sporting event.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education & ICT) Sashwati Shil attended the programme as the chief guest, while Senior ASP (Shalikha Zone) Nishat Al Nahian, Civil Surgeon Md Shamim Kabir were among the special guests.

District Education Officer Md Alamgir Kabir presided over the ceremony. 

Organized by the District National School, Madrasa and Technical Education Club Association, the competition brings together champion teams from the upazila level. Winners of the district round will advance to the divisional level. The events feature kabaddi, football, handball, chess, and swimming, with both boys' and girls' categories represented.

Speaking at the inauguration, Sashwati Shil highlighted the significance of sports in the physical and mental development of students. "Sports teach discipline, cooperation, and fairness-qualities that are essential both on and off the field," she said.

Md Alamgir Kabir stressed the educational value of sports. "Sports are not merely a form of entertainment; they are an essential component of students' overall development," he said. "Through participation, students build discipline, leadership, and team spirit. This competition will provide a platform for Magura's youth to showcase their talents and bring pride to the district at the national level." 

The inauguration was followed by a rally, flag hoisting, and a sports parade, after which various competitions officially began. The closing and prize-giving ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow at 3 pm at the same venue.
