800 kg banned polythene seized in Satkhira

SATKHIRA, Oct 16, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-6 and the district administration in a drive seized 800 kg of banned polythene from Janani Courier Service at Bangaler Mor area of the district town this afternoon.

Later, a mobile court led by executive magistrate Md. Tajul Isla fined the courier service Taka 25,000. 

On a tip-off, a team of RAB from Satkhira camp conducted a raid in Bangaler Mor area in cooperation with the district administration and seized 800 kg of banned polythene from Janani Courier Service.

After the operation, the mobile court fined Janani Courier Service Taka 25,000 for violating the rules of the Department of Environment. 

Executive magistrate Md. Tajul Islam said that according to the Environmental Protection Act in Bangladesh, the use and marketing of environmentally harmful polythene is completely prohibited. 

A section of unscrupulous traders are violating the rules and marketing harmful polythene in the hope of making more profits. He also said that such operations will continue in future.
