KHULNA Oct 22, 2025 (BSS) - A traffic awareness rally was held today at
Shibbari intersection in Khulna city to prevent road accidents and ease
congestion.

The event was organized by the Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) with the
participation of motor vehicle and easy-bike drivers.

KMP Commissioner Md Zulfiqar Ali Haidar attended as the chief guest and urged
drivers to follow traffic rules and maintain discipline on the roads.

"Police are not anyone's adversary. We don't want to fine easy-bike drivers
unnecessarily. They are hardworking, low-income earners. If they drive within
lanes, avoid picking up passengers from the middle of the road, and behave
properly with passengers, there will be no reason for fines," he said.

He also advised passengers not to stop vehicles haphazardly and to get on or
off from the left side of the road.

The commissioner informed that 7,900 easy-bike drivers have already received
training, and the rest will be trained gradually.

"Earlier, many caused congestion due to a lack of awareness, but training has
made them more disciplined," he added.

As part of the safe city, safe roads campaign, similar awareness activities
will continue for ten days across ten city locations to raise awareness among
drivers, passengers, and pedestrians.

Senior KMP officials, police members, transport workers, and the public
attended the event.
