Preparatory meeting to observe Poet Radha Raman Dutta's 110th death anniversary held

SUNAMGANJ, Nov 6, 2025 (BSS)- A preparatory meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room in the district today to observe the 110th death anniversary of the influential Bengali poet and musician Radha Raman Dutta.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Ilyas Mia presided over the meeting while Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Samar Kumar Pal, Additional Superintendent of Police Rakibul Hasan Rasel, Jagannathpur Upazila Land Officer Mohsin Uddin and Public Prosecutor Mollik Moin Uddin Suhel spoke on the occasion.

Local officials, Baul artists and cultural figures attended, among others. 

Speakers, on the occasion, stressed preserving the authenticity of Dutta's works and songs.

Radha Raman Dutta, who died on November 10, 1915, is a prominent figure in Bengali folk music, widely considered the "Father of Dhamail songs".
