NARAYANGANJ, Dec 3, 2025 (BSS) - Police in Narayanganj have arrested six
individuals, including the wife of a 35-year old man, in connection with the
killing of a man in Fatullah.
Confirming the matter at a press briefing at the office of District
Superintendent of Police (SP) this afternoon, SP Mizanur Rahman Munshi said
the arrested are Soniya Akter, 22, wife of the deceased, Mehedi Hasan alias
Yusuf, 42, Abdur Rahman, 28, Billal Hossain, 58, Alamgir Hawladar, 45, and
Nannu Mia, 55.
The deceased, Suman Khalifa son of Montu Khalifa of Andarmanik village in
Agailjhara, Barishal, had been living with his wife Soniya Akter in a rented
house in the Signboard area.
On the morning of December 1, Suman's blood-stained body was recovered from
the road in the middle of Narsinghpur area.
The victim's body bore multiple sharp weapon injuries. That night, his father
Montu Khalifa filed a murder case with Fatullah Model Police Station against
unidentified individuals.
The suspects were arrested on Tuesday night. A machete and a switch gear,
allegedly used in the crime, were also recovered.
SP Mizanur Rahman Munshi said the murder was committed due to an extramarital
affair involving the victim's wife, Soniya Akter.
"Frequent quarrels between Suman and Soniya arose due to her illicit
relationship with Mehedi Hasan alias Yusuf. In retaliation, Soniya and Yusuf
conspired to kill Suman," he said.
According to the SP, on the night of November 30, following the plan, the
suspects lured Suman out of a club after leaving Soniya at a musical event in
Panchbati, Methorkhola.
He was then abducted in a CNG-run vehicle and taken to Char Kashipur, where
he was brutally killed with sharp weapons.
"After arresting Yusuf with the help of information technology, five others
were also taken into custody following his initial confessional statement.
Investigation is ongoing to determine whether others were involved in the
crime," the SP added.
