Distribution of seeds and fertilizers begins in Kurigram

KURIGRAM, Dec 8, 2025 (BSS) - The distribution of seeds and fertilizers for small and marginal farmers has officially begun in Phulbari upazila of the district.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Dilara Akhter inaugurated the program on Monday at 11.30 am on the premises of the Upazila Agriculture Office.

Upazila Agriculture Officer Nilufa Yasmin, Additional Agriculture Officer Rafika Akhter, Assistant Agriculture Extension Officer Shishir Kumar Kishore, Deputy Assistant Plant Protection Officer Shahnaz Laiju Chowdhury, Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer Abu Bakkar Siddique, Ashraful Islam, and other officials were present.

According to the Upazila Agriculture Office, a total of 1,700 small and marginal farmers will get Boro paddy seeds and fertilizers in phases as part of the government's agricultural incentive program. 

Among them, 500 farmers will get 5 kg of Ufshi paddy seeds, 5 kg of DAP, and 5 kg of MOP fertilizer, while 1,200 farmers will receive 2 kg of hybrid paddy seeds each.

Agriculture officials said the incentives will help boost paddy production during the Boro season and significantly reduce production costs for marginal farmers.
