Fertilizer shops fined Tk 1.55 lakh for irregularities in Magura

MAGURA, Dec 8, 2025 (BSS) - In a market monitoring drive in Balidia Bazar under Mohammadpur upazila of the district, the National Consumer Rights Protection Department (DNCRP) imposed fines totaling Taka 1.55 lakh on two fertilizer companies for various violations.

The operation, conducted from 11 am to 2 pm, inspected the activities of fertilizer dealers, sub-dealers, seed traders, pharmacies, and sellers of daily essentials.

According to DNCRP officials, M/s Milon Enterprise was found guilty of multiple irregularities, including maintaining faulty sales registers and vouchers, selling fertilizers at inflated prices, and issuing falsified vouchers. 

Authorities also seized a large stock of expired pesticides from the company’s shelves.

For these offenses, owner Milan Kumar Ghosh was fined Taka 1.50 lakh.

In the same drive, M/s Biswas Traders was fined Taka 5,000 for failing to preserve purchase and sales vouchers, not properly displaying fertilizer price lists, and selling fertilizers at excessive prices.

After the operation, Sajal Ahmed, Assistant Director of the DNCRP Magura District Office, said strict action would continue against any market irregularities.
