One held over journalist Milon murder

KHULNA, Jan 01, 2026(BSS) – Police have arrested Sabur Molla, 35, an accused of journalist Emdadul Haque Milon murder from Sholua Bazar under Aranghata thana here yesterday.

Police said Sabur was arrested on Wednesday night from the Satkhira Sadar thana area with the assistance of Rapid Action Battalion.

He was produced before the court today and sent to jail custody.
The arrested Sabur Molla is the son of Kawsar Ali Molla, a resident of Sholua Bazar area under Aranghata Police Station.

Police said that Sabur has a robbery case pending against him at Aranghata Police and is allegedly linked to a local criminal gang.
 
Journalist Emdadul Haque Milon was shot dead on December 18 at a tea stall at Sholua Bazar. At that time, four armed assailants arrived on two motorcycles fired on him, killing him on the spot.

While fleeing, the attackers also opened fire targeting local livestock officer Debashish Biswas, leaving him injured.

Milon was the son of Bazlur Rahman of Sholua Bazar area and used to run an online news portal. Injured Debashish Biswas is the son of Rabindranath Biswas of the same area.
