BNP holds doa mahfil in Mongla seeking peace of Khaleda Zia’s soul

BAGERHAT, Jan 11, 2026 (BSS) - A doa mahfil was held today  in Mongla Municipality seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. 

Rampal-Mongla’s Ganamanush leader and BNP nominated candidate for Bagerhat-3 constituency, Dr. Sheikh Faridul Islam, was chief guest at the programme held on the premises of Mongla Chalna Fazil Madrasa. 

Mongla Municipality BNP President Md. Zulfikar Ali presided over the programme while Fakirhat Upazila BNP President Kamrul Islam Gora was present as the special guest.  In addition, leaders and activists of Bagerhat district, Mongla upazila and Mongla municipality BNP and its affiliates and associate organizations were present. 

In his speech Dr. Sheikh Faridul Islam said, “In the struggle to restore democracy and establish people’s voting rights, Begum Khaleda Zia was an uncompromising and courageous leader. Under her leadership, BNP has repeatedly gained the trust of the people. Today, she is not among us, but the nation will forever remember her ideals, patriotism and sacrifice for democracy.” 

Special prayers and munajat were held to seek the forgiveness of the soul of Begum Khaleda Zia.
