Two fined Tk 5 lakh for illegally cutting soil from agricultural land

CHATTOGRAM, Jan 15, 2026 (BSS) - Two individuals were apprehended and fined Taka 5 lakh for excavating soil from agricultural land near Jugnighata Bridge in Paindang Union of Fatikchhari upazila today. 

The detainees were identified as Md. Alamgir, son of late Abdus Salam from Mardasha's residence, and Kazi Md. Habibullah, son of late Kazi Md. Idris from Paindang Union in Fatikchhari upazila.

Md. Nazrul Islam, Fatikchhari Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate carried out the drive. During the operation, it was confirmed that illegal soil cutting had taken place, and the detainees, Md. Alamgir and Kazi Md. Habibullah, admitted that they were involved in the crime. As a result, Md. Alamgir was fined Taka 3.50 lakh and Kazi Md. Habibullah was fined Tk 1.50 lakh under Section 15 of the Balumahal and Soil Management Act 2010. 

Additionally, they were required to provide a bond promising not to engage in such activities in the future. Various officials from the upazila were present during the drive.
