MEHERPUR, Jan 15, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court in Sadar upazila fined two brick kilns a total of Taka 2 lakh for violating environmental regulations.

The action took place in Ashrafpur village on Thursday afternoon, organized jointly by the Sadar Upazila Administration and the Department of Environment.

The mobile court was led by Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Sumaiya Jahan, with Inspector Tipu Sultan of the Department of Environment, local police, and Ansar members.

According to Assistant Commissioner Sumaiya Jahan, Rafiqul, owner of SBR Bricks, and Elias Biswas, owner of MUS Bricks, were fined Taka 1 lakh each under the Brick Manufacturing and Kiln Establishment (Control) Act. The fines were imposed for using fixed chimneys and fuel wood, which violate environmental regulations.

“The mobile court drive against all anti-environmental brick kilns will continue. No concessions will be made when it comes to environmental protection and law enforcement,” she said.
