Customs officials and business leaders exchange views in Khulna

KHULNA, Jan 26, 2026 (BSS) – A views exchange meeting between custom officials and local business leaders was held here today on multifaceted roles of customs and revenue department.

Speaking on the occasion, National Board of Revenue (NBR) Member (VAT Policy) Md Azizur Rahman said that Bangladesh Customs is performing various  roles alongside revenue collection,  trade facilitation, environmental protection, social security and prevention of smuggling.

The meeting held at a city hotel here,  the NBR member said lawful payment of revenue is essential for the country’s development, adding that mutual interaction and cooperation between customs and the business community can help build a strong, transparent and economically prosperous country.

Mongla Customs House Commissioner Md Safiuzzaman presided over the meeting.

Bhomra Customs House Commissioner Md Mushfiqur Rahman delivered the welcome address.

C&F executive members Md Abdur Sabur and Md Mosharraf Hossain spoke at the meeting.

The  meeting  was informed that in the fiscal year 2024–25, the National Board of Revenue collected Tk 370,875 crore in total tax revenue, of which Tk 101,98 crore was collected by customs -- around 27 percent of the total NBR revenue.
