RAJSHAHI, Feb 8, 2026 (BSS)- With the technical assistance of the Cyber Crime Unit of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP), 75 lost mobile phone sets
which were recovered have been formally handed over to their rightful owners.
The handover ceremony was held today (Sunday) in the conference room of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Headquarters, organised by the Cyber Crime Unit.
The chief guest at the event was the RMP Commissioner Dr Zillur Rahman.
Using modern technology, the RMP Cyber Crime Unit was able to identify and
recover a total of 75 lost mobile phone sets.
These phones had gone missing not only from Rajshahi city but also from various districts across the country.
Based on general diaries filed at the respective police stations, the Cyber Crime Unit conducted technical investigations to trace and recover the
phones.
The Police Commissioner later formally handed over the recovered mobile phones to their actual owners.
While addressing the gathering, Police Commissioner Dr Zillur Rahman highlighted the severe dangers of drug abuse.
He urged citizens to provide information to the police regarding drugs and any other criminal activities.
He noted that if accurate and reliable information is received, the police can take swift and effective action. For this purpose, RMP has kept its
Facebook page, hotline numbers, and contact numbers of relevant officials active.
Addressing parents, the Police Commissioner said that it is essential to maintain constant supervision over their children-- where they go, what they
do, whom they associate with, whether they regularly attend school or college, and whether they are studying properly-- so that children do not
become involved in drugs or any kind of criminal activities.
He further said that parents who are addicted to drugs should stay away from substance abuse considering their children's future. If children are provided
with proper education and opportunities for learning, they can establish themselves as respectable members of society, he continued.
The recipients of the recovered mobile phones expressed their gratitude to the RMP for this initiative. According to them, this people-friendly and technology-based effort not only helped recover lost mobile phones but also strengthened public trust and confidence in the police.
Additional Police Commissioner Faruk Hossain and Deputy Police Commissioner Khorshed Alam were also present at the event.
