PATUAKHALI, Feb 23, 2026 (BSS) - A special programme to sell livestock
products at affordable prices was inaugurated in the district on Monday,
marking the beginning of initiatives for the Holy month of Ramadan.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Shahid Hossain Chowdhury officially
inaugurated the initiative as the chief guest at 10 am.

Among others present at the event were District Livestock Officer Dr. Md.
Habibur Rahman, General Secretary of the District Dairy Farmers Association
Abdus Salam Arif, and officials and employees of the District Livestock
Office.

Speakers at the inauguration ceremony said that the demand for essential
commodities typically rises during Ramadan. Considering the purchasing
capacity of the general public, the government has taken steps to ensure the
supply of livestock products-- egg and milk-- at reasonable prices.

Under the programme, chicken eggs are being sold at Taka 8 per piece, while
cow milk is available at Taka 75 per liter. Organizers said consumers can
purchase products at fixed prices according to their needs.

According to the District Livestock Department, the initiative, which
commenced on February 23, will continue throughout the month of Ramadan.

Officials expressed hope that the programme will not only stabilize the
supply of livestock products at fair prices but also contribute positively to
meeting the nutritional needs of the public during the Ramadan.
