
RAJSHAHI, Feb 23, 2026 (BSS)- Speakers at the Monthly Coordination Meeting of the Barind Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA) emphasized accelerating the pace of ongoing projects, ensuring implementation within the stipulated time frame, expanding irrigation facilities, and strengthening coordinated initiatives to increase agricultural production.
The meeting also identified various field-level challenges and provided directives for their prompt resolution.
The meeting was organized to review the overall progress of various field-level projects under implementation, irrigation activities, infrastructure development, and agricultural support programs, as well as to determine future action plans.
The January 2026 monthly coordination meeting took place today at the gymnasium hall of the BMDA head office.
The meeting was chaired by the Executive Director of BMDA, Abu Sayeed Kamruzzaman.
Among those present at the meeting were Additional Chief Engineer Abul Kashem; Secretary Mehedi Hasan; Superintending Engineers Nazrul Islam, Mahfuzur Rahman, Jinnurain Khan and Abdul Latif.
In addition, additional engineers, superintending engineers, project directors, executive engineers, deputy managers (agriculture), and assistant engineers from the regional, head office, and field levels of 16 districts under rajshahi and rangpur divisions participated in the meeting.
Talking to BSS on the issues concerned, Abu Sayeed Kamruzzaman said the contributions of the BMDA have been multifaceted, leading to significant advancements in agricultural productivity, water resource management, and overall socio-economic development.
It has significantly contributed to socio-economic development in 135 upazilas under all 16 districts in the Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions through various initiatives, primarily focusing on agricultural development and water resource management.
