JASHORE, March 29, 2026 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested the prime accused truck driver, Sujat Ali (50), in connection with the killing of a petrol pump manager, Nahid Sardar, who was allegedly crushed under the wheels of a truck in Narail after refusing to provide diesel.

Sujat was apprehended today from his father-in-law's residence in Darajhat village of Bagherpara upazila in Jashore.

Major Fazle Rabbi Prince, Company Commander of RAB-6 Jashore Camp, confirmed the arrest. The arrestee, Sujat Ali, is the son of the late Saidur Rahman of Peroli village in Narail Sadar upazila.

Meanwhile, police recovered the truck (Jashore-Ta-11-6040) used in the killing from Benapole Truck Terminal at around 12:00 pm today. A joint team comprising Narail and Jashore DB Police, Benapole Port Police and Navaron Highway Police conducted the operation to seize the vehicle.

OC of Navaron Highway Police Station, Md. Mohsin Hossain, confirmed the seizure of the truck.

According to Major Fazle Rabbi Prince, the incident occurred late Saturday night (around 2:15 am) near the Tularampur railway bridge area on the Jashore-Narail highway.

Earlier that night, Sujat Ali went to 'Tanveer Filling Station' in Narail Sadar to refuel his truck. When the manager, Nahid Sardar, expressed inability to provide diesel due to insufficient stock, a heated argument ensued. Sujat reportedly threatened the manager before driving away.

RAB further stated that after finishing his shift around 2:00 am, Nahid and his colleague, Jihad Molla, were heading home on a motorcycle. When they reached the Tularampur railway bridge area, the accused truck driver intentionally hit their motorcycle from behind and fled the scene.

Nahid Sardar died on the spot, while Jihad Molla sustained critical injuries.

Sujat Ali had been in hiding since the incident. Acting on a tip-off and using information technology, RAB-6 members successfully tracked and arrested him in Bagherpara.
