BHOLA, Feb 25, 2026 (BSS) - A month-long programme to sell milk, eggs and
chicken at fair prices has begun in the district during Ramadan, aiming to
ensure affordable access to essential animal protein for low-and middle-
income families.
The initiative, launched on Tuesday (February 24), is being jointly
implemented by the District Livestock Department and the district
administration.
The programme was formally inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner Md.
Belal Hossain at the premises of the District Livestock Office.
Bhola District Livestock Officer Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, Bhola Sadar Upazila
Livestock Officer Dr. Shahin Mahmud, Organizing Secretary of Bhola District
Dairy Farm Association Kamrul Hasan Khokon, farmer Biplob, and other local
farmers were present.
According to officials, the programme will continue throughout the Holy month
of Ramadan. As part of the initiative, approximately 200,000 eggs, 2,000
kilograms of chicken meat, and 2,000 liters of milk will be sold at
government-fixed affordable prices through mobile vans across Bhola.
Additional Deputy Commissioner said that the fair price sales would help
stabilize the local market and reduce pressure on consumers during the
Ramadan, when demand for essential food items typically increases.
