BNP-backed panel secures 12 posts including president in Naogaon bar polls

NAOGAON, March 3, 2026 (BSS) – The BNP-backed Jatiyatabadi Ainajibi Oikya Parishad panel won 12 out of 15 posts, including president, in the election of the Naogaon District Bar Association for the 2026 term.

The election was held on Monday (March 3), and the results were announced around 9:30 pm after vote counting by Election Commissioner Dewan Mahbub Ali Suja.

MHM Jahangir Alam was elected president with 135 votes, defeating his nearest rival, independent candidate Md. Zakaria Hossain-1, who secured 127 votes.

For the two vice-president posts, one was won by panel candidate Asaduzzaman Al Azad, while the other went to independent candidate Mottaleb Hossain.

In the general secretary post, independent candidate Abu Belal Hossain Jewel secured 195 votes to defeat panel candidate Shawkat Ilias Kabir, who received 170 votes.

All three assistant general secretary posts were won by panel candidates—Saeed Hossain Al Murad, Zahurul Islam and Ariful Islam.

Of the eight executive member posts, seven were secured by candidates backed by the Jatiyatabadi Ainajibi Oikya Parishad panel, while one post went to independent candidate Anowar Hossain (Rana).

A total of 26 candidates contested for 15 posts in the election.
