
RANGPUR, March 6, 2026 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) rescued a schoolgirl allegedly abducted from Gaibandha and arrested the main accused from Pabna district.
The arrestee was identified as Md Tamim Mia, 21, son of Md Rashidul Islam of Bhatpara Gopalpur village under Gaibandha Sadar Police Station, according to a RAB press release issued this afternoon.
The release said a joint team of RAB-13 from Gaibandha and RAB-12 from Pabna conducted a raid in the Bhadrakola area under Santhia Police Station of Pabna around 10pm on Thursday, acting on a tip-off. During the operation, the team rescued the victim and arrested Tamim.
The victim and the accused were later handed over to Gaibandha Sadar Police Station for further legal action.
According to the press release, Tamim had been harassing the victim, an eighth-grade student of a local school, for a long time. After learning about the harassment, the victim's mother warned him against continuing such acts. However, he allegedly threatened the victim.
On February 22 at around 8am, when the victim left home for private tutoring, Tamim and his accomplices took her to an unknown location, the release said.
Following the incident, the victim's mother filed a kidnapping case with Gaibandha Sadar Police Station on February 24.
