Two youths killed in train accident in Sirajganj

SIRAJGANJ, March 12, 2026 (BSS) - Two young men were killed after being struck by a train while visiting a Shimul flower garden in Ullapara upazila of the district on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Alfe Sunny, son of Abdul Latif Pramanik from Belkuchi upazila, and Faisal, son of Akhter Hossain.

According to eyewitnesses, the two youths climbed onto the Ghatina Rail Bridge around noon to view and take photographs of the nearby Shimul flower garden in the Ghatina area. At that time, a train suddenly approached the bridge.

As they attempted to move away, both were hit by the train. One of them died on the spot, while the other sustained critical injuries.

Local residents rescued the injured youth and rushed him to the Ullapara Upazila Sadar 30-bed Hospital, where the on-duty doctor later declared him dead.

Confirming the incident, Sub-Inspector Moklesur Rahman of Ullapara Model Police Station said the two youths fell from the bridge after being hit by the train. Police recovered the bodies and necessary legal procedures are underway.
