Construction worker dies of electrocution in Demra

DHAKA, March 12, 2026 (BSS) – A construction worker died after being electrocuted while working at an under-construction building in the Galakata area of Demra in the capital today.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Shamim, 18, a resident of Bashbunia village under Mathbaria thana of Pirojpur district. 

The incident occurred around 11:30 am when Shamim was working as a welding helper on the second floor of an under-construction building. 

He was rushed to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in an unconscious condition around 1:00 pm today, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Inspector Mohammad Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, said the body has been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
