KHULNA, March 16, 2026 (BSS) - The Mongla C&F Agents Association distributed food items as Eid gifts among around 2,000 workers engaged at the jetties of Mongla Port.

The distribution programme was inaugurated today  at the port’s administrative building by Dr. Anisur Rahman, Member (Engineering and Development) of Mongla Port Authority, along with association President Mosharraf Hossain and General Secretary MahmudulHasanJony.

The distributed food packages included rice, lentils, sugar, milk, vermicelli, soybean oil, soap and salt.
The workers expressed satisfaction after receiving the food items. Labour leader Md Selim said they had been facing financial hardship due to a decline in port activities, adding that receiving the food assistance ahead of Eid brought them much relief and happiness.

The association leaders said the number of ships arriving at Mongla Port has decreased due to the ongoing tensions involving Iran, Israel and the United States, which has slowed import-export trade.

As a result, many workers dependent on port activities are facing hardship.

They added that the food assistance was provided so that the workers can celebrate the upcoming Eid with their families.
