Eid-ul-Fitr programmes announced in Khulna

KHULNA, Mar 16, 2026 (BSS) - The government has taken various programmes to celebrate the holy Eid-ul-Fitr 2026 in Khulna with due religious fervour and solemnity.

The main Eid congregation will be held at 8 am at the Khulna Circuit House Ground. Another congregation will take place at 8:30 am at the Model Mosque adjacent to Khulna Alia Madrasa.

If weather conditions turn unfavorable, the Eid prayers will instead be held at Khulna Town Jame Mosque with three congregations scheduled at 8 am, 9am and 10am respectively.

Besides, Eid congregations will also be held atKhalishpurEidgah Ground and Basupara Islamabad Eidgah Ground at 8 am. 

Under the supervision of Khulna City Corporation and ward officials, separate Eid congregations will be arranged in every ward of the city, while the management committees of other mosques and Eidgahs will fix prayer schedules at their convenience.
On the Eid day, the national flag will be hoisted on all government, semi-government, autonomous and private buildings in proper colour and size and will be lowered before sunset. 

Major roads, important intersections, road islands and the Circuit House Ground will be decorated with national flags and banners inscribed with “Eid Mubarak” in Bangla and Arabic.

Special meals will be served on the occasion at hospitals, prisons, government children’s homes, ChhotomoniNibash, socialdisability centres, child development centres, shelter centres, safe homes, vagrant welfare centres and destitute welfare centres.

The Islamic Foundation will organise seminars and discussions on the significance of Eid-ul-Fitr at convenient times. The District Shishu Academy will also arrange a children’s fair for underprivileged children.

To maintain law and order during Eid, law enforcement agencies will take special security measures at various points within and outside the city. Lighting fireworks and firecrackers, setting up stalls by blocking roads, playing loud microphones or drums, splashing coloured water and reckless motorcycle riding will be prohibited.

To ensure safe movement during Eid, sand-laden vessels will remain suspended on waterways from March 18 to March 24, while speedboat movement at night will remain closed.

Authorities will also take measures so that no one creates disorderly situations by playing loud music from open pickup trucks at city intersections and roads.
Concerned authorities have been instructed to discourage construction of roadside gates and hanging of banners or festoons that may narrow roads and increase the risk of accidents and damage the city’s aesthetics.

Plainclothes police will be deployed at terminal connecting roads, railway stations, bus and river terminals to prevent activities of fraud gangs, muggers and pickpockets, while mobile courts will remain active. Necessary steps will also be taken to prevent circulation of counterfeit currency.

Financial institutions, markets, offices and shopping malls have been asked to arrange their own security personnel during the Eid holidays to ensure safety.

Overcrowding in vehicles, especially buses and minibuses, and carrying passengers on rooftops or hanging from vehicles will not be allowed.

No extra toll or fare will be charged at Daulatpur Ferry Ghat, Jailkhana Ghat, Rupsha Ghat and other launch, ferry and boat terminals, and vessels will not be allowed to carry passengers beyond their capacity. 
A
dequate life-saving equipment, buoys and operational fire extinguishers must be kept on launches, while lighting and marking systems on waterways will also be ensured.

Night patrols will be strengthened to prevent piracy, extortion and harassment of passengers and workers on waterways.

The Outer Stadium adjacent to Khulna District Stadium will be reserved for parking of vehicles of worshippers attending the main Eid congregation. Arrangements will also be made for water for ablution.

Law enforcement agencies will remain on duty to ensure that buses, launches and steamers do not carry excess passengers and that vehicles do not move recklessly.

A portion of Zakat may be deposited in the government Zakat Fund through Sonali Bank, Boyra Branch, Current Account No. 27040010869, or directly to the Deputy Director, Islamic Foundation, Boyra, Khulna.

On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, Bangladesh Betar Khulna will broadcast special programmes, while local newspapers will publish special Eid editions. Similar programmes will also be arranged at the upazila level.
