RAJSHAHI, March 21, 2026 (BSS)- A different kind of festive atmosphere was created at Rajshahi Central Jail centring on the Eid celebrations of inmates.

 On Eid day, an Eid congregation was held in the prison at 9:00 am. After the prayers, the familiar song—“Ramjaner Oi Rojar Sheshe Elo Khushir Eid (After the fasting of Ramadan comes the joyous Eid)”—echoed in the voices of the inmates.

Immersed in the emotion of the song, many prisoners seemed to forget, even if briefly, that they were incarcerated or away from their families. It felt to them as though they were celebrating Eid with their loved ones.
 
On the occasion of Eid, the prison authorities took various initiatives for the inmates. The prisoners became joyful and emotional upon receiving such arrangements. Even if only for a short time, they were carried away into a different feeling.
 
Not only for the inmates, but special arrangements were also made for their visiting relatives.

 On the ground, it was seen that Senior Jail Superintendent Md. Shah Alam Khan, along with his officers and staff, welcomed visitors with flowers. They were also served traditional Eid food—payesh (rice pudding), puffed rice, and sweets.
 
The wife of an inmate who came to visit said she was impressed by the sincerity of the prison authorities. 

She said, “The respect, reception, and hospitality we received here are truly commendable. This arrangement was made not only for me but for everyone.”
 
She further mentioned that just as the inmates were served payesh, puffed rice, and quality food, the visitors were treated in the same way. Knowing that her husband was receiving such delicious food even while in prison on Eid made her happy. She expressed her gratitude to the authorities.
 
Additionally, on the occasion of Eid, a decision has been made to allow inmates to receive outside food, have special visits, and access special phone call facilities for the next three days, which has been appreciated by those concerned.
 
Overall, the comprehensive arrangements made by the prison authorities for inmates and their families on Eid day have received a positive response, according to those involved.
