NOAKHALI, March 24, 2026 (BSS) - A teenage boy drowned in a pond in Companiganj upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased was Zahidul Islam Siam,  13, son of Abul Kashem, a resident of Charparbati union of the upazila.

Siam drowned in the pond near his house while he was taking bath with his friends, said local union parishad member Nur Alam Mamun.

Locals rushed to the scene and rescued the boy before taking him to Companiganj Upazila Health Complex.

Medical Officer Dr. Mohammad Yusuf confirmed that Siam had died before being brought to the hospital.
