DHAKA, March 28, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court has fined a petrol pump in
Jamalpur for withholding fuel from customers despite having sufficient stock.

The operation was carried out on Saturday at M/s Jui Enterprise, located at
the PTI intersection in Sadar upazila. The pump's manager was fined Taka
50,000 under the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009.

According to officials from the Energy Department, a large number of
motorcyclists had gathered at the pump since morning seeking petrol. However,
the pump authority claimed that no fuel was available.

Acting on complaints, Executive Magistrate BMSR Alif, along with Additional
Superintendent of Police Md. Sohel Mahmud, visited the site to investigate.
During the inspection, authorities discovered approximately 2,500 liters of
petrol stored in 12 drums on the premises.

The mobile court imposed the fine after confirming that the pump had
deliberately withheld fuel from sale despite having adequate stock.

Following the intervention, the pump resumed selling petrol to customers in
an orderly manner under the supervision of law enforcement, adhering to
government-fixed prices.
