Fisherman electrocuted in Bogura

BOGURA, March 30, 2026 (BSS) - A 65-year-old fisherman died after being electrocuted while fishing in a pond in Adamdighi upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Niren Chandra Pramanik, son of Rajendra Chandra of Paril village under Raninagar upazila in Naogaon district.

Niren Chandra, along with several other fishermen, went to catch fish in a pond at Kadamgari village around 8:00 am. An electric submersible pump had been installed in the pond for irrigation purposes.

During the fishing, three fishermen, including Niren Chandra, came into contact with electric line and were electrocuted. They were immediately rescued and taken to Adamdighi Upazila Health Complex where on-duty physician declared Niren Chandra dead.

Sub-Inspector Abdur Rahman of Adamdighi Police Station confirmed the inccident.
