100 receive free cataract surgery in Manikchhari

KHAGRACHHARI, April 16, 2026 (BSS) - Medical campaign and free eye camp in the remote mountainous areas of Manikchhari upazila in the district for underprivileged communities today.

The free medical camp was organiged in initiative of Bangladesh Army which held from 9 am to 3 pm, at the Yoghchola Government Primary School ground.

They provided a wide range of medical services, catering to approximately 1,500 hill and Bengali patients from various remote areas.

A total of 100 patients were selected for free cataract surgery, through the support of the Lions Eye Hospital and the management of Sindukchhari Zone. 

The initiative, spearheaded by the 20th Field Regiment Artillery Sindukchhari Zone under the Guimara Region, aimed to provide much-needed medical assistance to the local residents, many of whom face significant barriers to healthcare due to geographical isolation and financial hardships.

The camp featured a team of expert doctors, including ophthalmologists from the Chittagong Lions Hospital and medical officers from the Sindukchhari Zone Headquarters.

The eye camp, in particular, focused on providing free cataract surgeries to those in need. 

In addition to cataract treatment, patients received free glasses, medications, and other medical supplies.
