JHENAIDAH, April 16, 2026 (BSS) – A housewife lost her life after being struck by lightning while working at her house at Bathangachi village of Mandarbaria union under Maheshpur upazila of the district on Thursday.

The deceased was Rozina Khatun, 32, wife of Mizanur Rahman, a resident of the village.

According to local sources, the lightning hit the house suddenly, causing severe injuries to the victim. The family members took Rozina to a local facility for immediate medical treatment. However, despite their efforts, Rozina Khatun succumbed to her injuries.

Maheshpur Police Station's Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mehedi Hasan confirmed the incident.
