DINAJPUR, Apr 16, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has inaugurated a new Border Out Post (BOP) in the border area of Mouchoşa under Biral upazila in Dinajpur, aiming to enhance operational capacity in preventing smuggling and other cross-border crimes.
Commander of BGB’s North-West Rangpur Region, Brigadier General ASM Naser, formally opened the 21st BOP of Dinajpur Battalion (42 BGB) by hoisting the national flag this morning.
With the establishment of the new BOP, security operations across approximately 99 kilometers of border under Dinajpur Battalion (42 BGB) are expected to be further strengthened, fostering a more secure and stable environment in the region.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Naser said that BGB personnel remain committed to safeguarding the country’s sovereignty round the clock, even under challenging conditions.
He emphasized that the force is always vigilant to prevent any criminal elements from using border routes to carry out illegal activities that could destabilize the country.
Naser further noted that special checkpoints have been set up and intelligence surveillance strengthened to prevent the smuggling of fuel and edible oil across the border.
He expressed hope that with continued support from local residents and the media and through objective reporting, border crimes could be reduced to zero.
The regional commander also mentioned that the new Mouchoşa BOP has been established near the zero line between Kishoreganj and Ramchandrapur BOPs under Dinajpur Battalion (42 BGB), to curb drug trafficking, human trafficking—especially of women and children—and illegal infiltration.
Following the inauguration, the regional commander planted a mango sapling within the BOP premises.
Among others, present at the event were Dinajpur Sector Commander Colonel Mohammad Faisal Hasan Khan and Commanding Officer of Dinajpur Battalion (42 BGB), Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al Moein Hasan, along with other senior officers.
