RAJSHAHI, April 18, 2026 (BSS) - An exchange meeting on tree plantation, mosquito control, and cleanliness activities ahead of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Adha was held under the initiative of the Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC).

The meeting took place today in the city hall room of the Nagar Bhaban, presided over by RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton.

In his speech, the RCC Administrator emphasized ensuring overall cleanliness of the city ahead of Eid-ul-Adha, strengthening regular mosquito control operations, and implementing extensive tree plantation programs. He called on all concerned to work with sincerity and responsibility.

In his remarks, the Administrator said that he has been entrusted with the responsibility by the Honorable Prime Minister Tarek Rahman to further improve the environment of a green and clean Rajshahi metropolitan city.

To fulfil this responsibility, several initiatives have been undertaken. Rajshahi already has a reputation as a clean and green city, and everyone must work together to enhance this reputation and transform the city into a cleaner, greener, healthier, and more peaceful place.

He added that a 15-day fogging operation using fogger machines has already been conducted to control mosquitoes.

Drain cleaning activities have been intensified in every ward. To ensure cleanliness, mosquito control, and citizen services at the ward level, all concerned must perform their duties properly.

He further mentioned that initiatives have already been taken for fogging operations, procurement of necessary equipment, distribution of bags for sacrificial waste collection, and installation of street lights at the ward level.

A large-scale tree plantation program will be undertaken across Rajshahi city before the upcoming monsoon season.

The meeting, chaired by RCC Chief Executive Officer Rezaul Karim, was welcomed by Chief Conservancy Officer Sheikh Mamun Dollar.

Ward secretaries, ward and mosquito supervisors, central supervisors, and central inspectors from all 30 wards attended the meeting.
