1,81,854 students to sit SSC exams under Dinajpur Board

DINAJPUR, April 19, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 1,81,854 students are set to appear in the upcoming Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations under the Dinajpur Education Board.

The number is slightly lower than last year's 1,82,420 candidates, Examination Controller Professor Md Borhan Uddin told BSS today.

The SSC examinations will begin simultaneously across the country on April 21.

According to board officials, the examinations will be held at 283 centres across 2,810 schools in eight districts of Rangpur division under the board.

Of the total candidates, 92,692 are male and 89,162 female. Among them, 1,37,286 are regular candidates, 44,568 irregular, and 190 are appearing for GPA improvement purpose.

In terms of group-wise distribution, 99,671 candidates will sit from the science group, including 52,831 males and 46,840 females. In the humanities group, 80,208 students will participate, of whom 38,504 are male and 41,704 female. A total of 1,975 candidates will take part from the business studies group, including 1,357 males and 618 females.

Board Chairman Professor Md Touhidul Islam said all preparations have been completed to ensure a peaceful and error-free examination environment.

He said CCTV cameras have been installed at every examination centre, and activities in each room will be monitored from the centre secretary's room. Immediate action will be taken against any irregularities involving teachers or examinees.

Seven special vigilance teams, comprising board officials and retired teachers, have been formed to conduct instant inspections at centres during the examinations.

The chairman added that public awareness has been raised through miking, restricting movement within 200 yards of examination centres. Law enforcement agencies, including police and executive magistrates, will remain on duty round the clock to ensure security.

He expressed hope that the SSC examinations will be held in a peaceful, orderly and cheat-free manner across all eight districts under the board.
