NATORE, April 19, 2026 (BSS) - A measles-rubella vaccination campaign is set to begin tomorrow across six upazilas of the district.

Acting Civil Surgeon of Natore Dr. Kamal Uddin Bhuiya announced this at a press conference held at his office here this afternoon.

He said that under the campaign, a total of 1,44,414 children aged between six months and under five years will receive the vaccine free of cost. The vaccination will be carried out simultaneously at 2,300 educational institutions, outreach centers and permanent vaccination centres across the district.

The Civil Surgeon further stated that the children who have previously received one or more doses of the measles vaccine must get an additional dose under this campaign. In addition, under the routine immunization program, children must receive measles vaccines at 9 months and 15 months of age. However, there must be a minimum interval of 28 days between the two doses.

It is mentioned here that since April 5, a special vaccination campaign has been underway in Natore Sadar Upazila, where 24,430 children have already been vaccinated against measles and rubella. Another 4,495 children are expected to be vaccinated by April 25. In total, 1,73,339 children across seven upazilas including Natore Sadar are being brought under this vaccination program.

Civil Surgeon Dr Kamal Uddin said that the training of the trainers for vaccination has already been completed and adequate campaign and publicity are in progress to make the campaign a success.
