3-member committee to probe alleged police suicide case in Khulna

KHULNA, April 19, 2026 (BSS)- A three-member committee has been formed to investigate into the reported suicide of a Railway Police cop Samrat Biswas in Khulna.

Railway Police sources said the committee was constituted on Saturday and began its investigation today.

Samrat Biswas allegedly shot himself when he was on duty in front of the armoury at the Railway Police Superintendent’s office Saturday night.

Headed by Additional Superintendent of Police Shafiqul Islam other members are OC of Railway Sadar Police Ferdous Alam Khan and OC of Detective Branch Abu Hasan.

The committee has been asked to submit its report within four working days.

Meanwhile, the mobile phone used by the deceased police cop has been seized by Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for examination.

Investigation Officer of Sonadanga Police Station SI  Suman Howlader said formal investigation began on Sunday.
