KHAGRACHHARI, April 29, 2026 (BSS) - A day-long free medical camp was organized at Headmanpara Government Primary School in Kamalchhari area of Sadar upazila under the Mahalchhari Army Zone on Wednesday, providing healthcare services to more than 300 residents from remote hill communities.
The initiative offered treatment for a range of common illnesses, including fever, cold and cough, skin diseases, gastric problems, and high blood pressure. Separate medical attention was arranged for children, women, and elderly patients, along with free distribution of essential medicines based on medical needs.
Officials said the program aimed to improve access to primary healthcare for people living in hard-to-reach areas of the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
Captain Borhan Uddin Bayezid, RMO of Mahalchhari Zone, said the army regularly organizes such medical camps to ensure basic healthcare reaches remote populations. "These activities will continue in the future," he added.
Captain Laboni Zaman, RMO of the 5 Field Ambulance, said that many patients had long been without proper treatment. "This camp has provided them with primary care and important medical advice, which is highly beneficial," she said.
Dr. Moazzem Hossain Chowdhury, RMO of Mahalchhari Upazila Health Complex, described the initiative as commendable, saying collaboration between the army and health department can further expand healthcare access in the region.
