Former Phulbari upazila chairman Nazir Hossain laid to rest in Kurigram

KURIGRAM, May 16, 2026 (BSS) - Former Phulbari upazila BNP president and former upazila chairman Nazir Hossain was laid to eternal rest at his family graveyard at Phulbari upazila of the district on Saturday.

His namaz-e-janaza was held at Phulbari Degree College grounds around 2:30 pm, where a large number of people gathered to pay their last tribute. 

According to family sources, he passed away at his residence around 3:00 am on Friday at the age of 70. He is survived by his wife, one son, three daughters, grandchildren, and a large number of well-wishers.

Leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its affiliated organizations, along with representatives from various political, social, and professional groups, attended the namaz-e-janaza.

Among those present were Kurigram District BNP Convener Mostafafizur Rahman, Member Secretary Sohel Hosnain Kayakobad, Senior Joint Convener Shafiqul Islam Bebu, Professor Hasibur Rahman Hasib, former District BNP General Secretary Umar Faruk, former Mayor Abu Bakar Siddique, Rajibpur Upazila BNP Convener Professor Mokhlesur Rahman and Phulbari Upazila BNP leaders Khorshed Alam and Abdul Mannan Mukul.
