KHULNA, May 26, 2026 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-6) has taken a three-phase security plan for Eid-ul-Azha to ensure safety and smooth movement of people in the Khulna division.

Commanding Officer of RAB-6 Khulna Lieutenant Colonel Nistar Ahmed today inspected the Joragate cattle market, the largest sacrificial animal market in the division, ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

He visited the market around 10:30 am and reviewed overall security arrangements while exchanging views with traders and buyers.

He said the pressure of homebound passengers and the presence of buyers and sellers at cattle markets are increasing as Eid approaches.

Under the first phase, highway patrols and intelligence surveillance have been intensified at highways, key points and vulnerable areas to ensure safe movement of homebound people. RAB personnel in plain clothes are also deployed at railway stations and bus terminals to prevent mugging and drugging incidents.

In the second phase, special security measures have been taken at cattle markets and Eid congregations. RAB-6 is conducting regular patrols and surveillance at 121 cattle markets under its jurisdiction. Steps have also been taken to prevent extortion from cattle-laden vehicles, while fake currency detection machines have been provided to RAB patrol teams.

Under the third phase, security arrangements will be strengthened to ensure the safe return of people to their workplaces after Eid.

Lt Col Nistar Ahmed said special RAB teams will be deployed at major Eid congregations across all eight districts of the Khulna division on Eid day, while intelligence monitoring will continue at other congregations.

He said public cooperation and coordinated efforts of law enforcement agencies are essential to ensure a safe and peaceful Eid celebration. Later, he visited different sections of the Joragate cattle market and inspected its management system.
