RAJSHAHI, May 26, 2026 (BSS)- Ahead of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Azha, RAB-5 Rajshahi has taken special security measures to ensure safe travel of the homebound people and deal with any possible untoward incident.

Patrols and checkpoint activities have been intensified in Rajshahi metropolitan area and in five districts under its jurisdiction, said Commanding Officer of RAB-5 Rajshahi Khandaker Mohammad Mahmudur Rahman at a press briefing at City Hat here today.

He said security has been increased at railway stations, bus stands, and important points along the Dhaka-Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj highway so that people traveling home for Eid do not fall victim to robbery, theft, mugging, or criminals’ gangs.

The RAB-5 commander said special measures have been taken at City Hat and other cattle markets in the area to prevent mugging, circulation of counterfeit currency, and extortion.

Plainclothes intelligence surveillance has been increased to ensure the safety of buyers and sellers at the markets. In addition, special machines have been installed to detect fake banknotes.

Considering the ongoing heatwave and public health concerns, RAB-5 has also set up a medical camp for visitors at City Hat.

At the same time, the force is working in coordination with the local administration to ensure smooth movement of vehicles carrying sacrificial animals.

The RAB commander also said a special RAB team is conducting round-the-clock monitoring to prevent the spread of rumors on social media and other platforms that could create public confusion.

He added that RAB-5 remains fully prepared to protect the lives and property of the general public during the Eid holidays.

He urged everyone to promptly inform the nearest RAB camp or law enforcement agency about any suspicious activity.
